Solo fiddle player: Alison is a confident folk fiddle player with a good knowledge of English, Irish, Scottish and European tunes. She is fluent at both sight-reading and playing by ear, and can be booked as a dep for ceilidh and concert bands, as a session musician, and as a solo fiddle player (including with guitarist) for private functions. You can find more information via Clove Hitch Weddings and Bristol Violinist.

Alison is an experienced folk music session leader, with a wide and varied repertoire of English, Irish and Scottish tunes. She believes firmly in making any session accessible to everyone, and will support even the most timid of players if they have a tune to share. Alison aims to strike a good balance between new tunes and well-known favourites, and between the fast-and-furious and the simpler tune with more space to experiment and learn. Her excellent aural skills mean she is able to join in new tunes immediately, with supportive and sensitive playing. Alison also runs occasional ‘how to blag it’ workshops to pass on tips for joining in sessions, and to gently inform and give confidence to newcomers about session etiquette.
